Kitchen Updates: Contemporary

With Spring right around the corner, we have home renovations on our mind! Check out our favorite design ideas for contemporary kitchens in this post.

Contemporary Cooktop

Crafted of heavy duty stainless steel, this Wolf gas cook-top fits flush to the countertop for a contemporary, low-profile look. The front-mounted controls integrate directly into the cabinetry below. Most impressive are the dual-stacked sealed burners that deliver just a mere breath of flame, ideal for gently simmering a creamy bearnaise sauce to perfection, faster boils, and restaurant-quality sears.

Keep it Linear

Low profile, linear pendants are the new trend in kitchen lighting. These minimalist fixtures provide interest in open concept layouts and keeping sight-lines clear. The best of both worlds remains - excellent task lighting and unobstructed views. Shown left is the Vix pendant in walnut by our favorite California lighting company, Cerno. This particular pendant includes multiple up and down lights, providing both ambient light and task light over your counter-top.

Looking for Some Drama?

Looking to add some drama to your kitchen island? Sleek and sophisticated, we can't get enough of the waterfall edge. The counter top flows over the kitchen cabinets, creating the appearance of a continuous surface that runs from the table top to the floor. This look works well for bathroom vanities, as well. Uncommon Goods

When unique is what you need, Philip Watts Design is the answer for door hardware. Crafted and finished by hand, these distinct door handles and knobs add interest with ease. Famous for design, Philip Watts offers various shapes, textures, and materials. Bright polish, satin, brushed, and aged finishes available to suit. With Philip Watts, you are sure to find the perfect, unexpected piece.

What the RTF?

Rigid Thermofoil is a surface finish applied to the cabinet profile of an underlying engineered wood core. A smart choice for homeowners who are seeking loads of finish option choices, and would rather forgo the upkeep of natural wood cabinets. Searching for something in a high gloss, realistic wood grain, texture, or satin foil?  Northern Contours uses the latest in print technology to offer quality cabinetry with superior color consistency.

Back in Black (Steel)

As beautiful as they are durable, MGS has been machining the highest quality stainless steel materials into functional faucets with slim silhouettes. Their designers believe that a contemporary kitchen should be sleek and minimalist, with clean lines. Since 1997, MGS has been mastering the artful efficiency their clients demand with a balance of simple, understated Italian flair and the precision of Swiss engineering.

Tile as Art

Steuler offers a wide range of tiles, giving you the opportunity to craft a living space as unique as you are. GLAZES, pictured left, is a puristic and modern collection, inspired by ceramic art. The transparent layers of glazing create surfaces with a soft, natural design, with each tile having its own unique pattern. Steuler has manufactured ceramics since 1917, so rest assured your tile hails from one of the most innovative tile plants in the world.

Long Lean Lines

Add length and clean lines to your open living spaces with a knot-less engineered European White Oak floor by Arrigoni Woods. This exceptionally long lasting material will add a pleasant complement to any contemporary design. We think the white and grey colors are perfect for a classic modern look.
